A scarce Irish percussion travelling pistol made by Parkinson of Dublin. Circa 1835. John Parkinson had a workshop 22 Arran Quay, Dublin, circa 1824-1846. 4 inch octagonal sighted barrel engraved Dublin and stamped with the Irish registration mark DU 1835. The makers name Parkinson engraved on the lock plate. Chequered grips. Oval escutcheon fitted to the rear of the barrel tang. Captive swivel ramrod and decorative engraved trigger guard. A small crack to the fore-end of the stock, otherwise in reasonably good condition. Action working (a bit stiff). A scarce pistol. Overall length 9 inches.Ref 1561.
