A scarce Waterloo era British 1796 pattern Cavalry troopers sabre, dating from the time of the Napoleonic campaigns, complete in its original steel scabbard. Many famous British cavalry regiments saw action during the Peninsular campaigns under The Duke of Wellington, including the Battle of Waterloo on 18th June 1815. Wide curved single edged blade, ribbed wooden grip (grip wire now missing). The langets are plain. Overall length 39 inches. Reasonably good untouched condition showing minor signs of genuine wear and use. A very scarce and difficult to find genuine Waterloo era Light cavalry sabre still retaining its original scabbard.
