Description

A very fine pair of authentic Flintlock duelling pistols made by the famous British Gunmakers WILLIAMS & POWELL. Both pistols in very good condition but with no blued finish remaining. Circa 1835-1840. Williams & Powell took over the business of very well known Liverpool gun-maker Ann Patrick around 1835. This fine set of pistols has a silver oval escutcheon fitted to the wrist of each stock. The pistols have VERY UNUSUAL SHAPED SWAN-NECK COCKS, gold lined decoration to the breeches and gold lined rain-proof pans & gold touch-holes. Finely engraved lock plates with sliding safeties engraved "WILLIAMS & POWELL". The 10.5 inch octagonal barrels have traces of the original browning and are engraved on top "25 South Castle Street, Liverpool." Set triggers, steel trigger guards with spurred finger guard and iron ramrod pipes fitted with their original wooden ramrods. Calibre approx .56. The pistols are 16 inches long. Good condition.
