Largest selection of genuine antique weapons for sale in UK. See our website andrewbottomley.com. Ref 2419. A very rare American 4 barrel swivel-breech revolving rifle. There is no name on this example but it was almost certainly made by William Billinghurst of Rochester, New York. There are several other examples in well known U.S. collections that are identical in construction to this rifle. Overall length is 42 inches. The rifled barrels are 25.5 inches long. Calibre is approx .38 cal. The breech is manually rotated by releasing a latch mounted on the top of the barrels. Complete with its original steel ramrod secured by three iron pipes. William Billinghurst of Rochester, New York was one of the most famous firearms markers of his day, producing revolving rifles and double barrel shotgun/rifles in both pill lock and percussion. The barrels are mounted with a bead front sight and a fixed notch rear sight on each pair of barrels. It is estimated that less than 25 of these multi-shot rifles were made by Billinghurst. for a similar but two barrel rifle and further details about Billinghurst please see page 55 plate 44 in "FIREARMS CURIOSA" by Lewis Winant. Small piece of wood missing from one side of the action (please see photos), otherwise condition is good showing very little wear. Ref 2419.. This is an obsolete antique item and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
