Description

A very scarce and unusually large size English flintlock box-lock pistol circa 1780-1810 made by Bass of London. (John Bass worked 1761-1794. He had a workshop at 19 Green Park Row, Piccadilly, London and was in partnership for a while with John Twigg of London). Plain slab sided wood grips. Extra long screw-off barrel 7 inches in length with barrel lug to the underside. The breech stamped underneath with two proof marks. The side-plates engraved with the makers name BASS to one side and LONDON to the other side. Overall length is 13 inches. Sliding top safety. Action is very crisp with a strong spring. Calibre approx .58. Good condition. Ref 9586. This is an obsolete antique pistol and is sold as a collectors item only. No Licence is required in the United Kingdom.
