Inert Rare British 1954 dated Aden 30x86B (LV ‘low velocity’) Practice Cannon Round. Sn. 11061:52 - 11061:52

This is a rare inert unfired practice projectile in a fired practice case for the British 30x86B LV (low velocity) Aden aircraft cannon fitted to various post WW2 British jet aircraft. The ADEN (named for the Armament Development Establishment, where it was designed, and Enfield, (where it was produced in the late 1940s.). The round was developed from the German Mauser MG 213/30mm experimental revolver cannon designed for the Luftwaffe in WW2. This had a case length of 85mm. The 30 mm Aden cannon was a replacement for the older Hispano-Suiza HS.404 20 mm cannon used in various British aircraft of World War II. Two case lengths were used in the experimental trials, the 86mm (LV) and the 111mm (HV ‘high velocity’). Both rounds had the same overall length, the difference being the length of the projectile and weight of explosive charge. The Low Velocity round was dropped from the trials, the HV being adopted. This round has an unmarked projectile. The brass cartridge case is stamped PRAC 1Z SWN 200/54 30MM K 54. Price includes UK delivery. Sn. 11061:52
