German Seitengewehr M1871 Sword Bayonet - BAYO 617
This is a nice original example of a 1875 dated German Seitengewehr M1871 bayonet. The bayonet was the standard Infantry bayonet for the M1871 Mauser Rifle (see page 113 & 116 of White & Watts ‘The Bayonet Book’). The bayonet has a ribbed brass hilt with birds head pommel and push button catch with steel flat spring. It also has a steel re-curved cross guard with muzzle ring and swept quillon. The blade which is fullered carries the makers name of ALEX COPPEL, SOLINGEN on the ricasso. The back of the blade carries W75 over a crowned inspectors stamp. The cross guard carries a regimental number 53 RR .7.196. (Reserve Regiment). The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 617
