American Civil War Era Model 1840 NCO’s Sword With Scabbard. Sn 14894:25 - 14894:25

This is an original American Civil War era Model 1840 NCO’s sword with scabbard (see page 211 of World Swords by Withers). It is a very good example. It has a straight 31 ¾” blade. The blade is fitted with original leather hilt washer. The cutting edge of the blade has no nicks or damage. The blade has staining and patina consistent with age. The sword does not have any visible manufacturer, date, or inspection marks. It has the correct kidney shaped counter-guard with knuckle bar & ribbed brass grip. The sword is complete with its black leather scabbard with brass mounts and hanging bar. The leather and stitching of the scabbard are intact.
