This is a scarce unmarked American M7 bayonet with a blackened blade and black plastic chequered grips held on by 2 screw bolts. The bayonet is virtually mint and is contained in its scarce M10 black plastic scabbard introduced to replace the US M8 A1 green plastic scabbards in 1970. This scabbard was not produced in any numbers until the mid 80s. This black plastic scabbard has the following moulding marks M10 ASSY 8448476 MFG 2X376 to the front of the scabbard. The scabbard has a black nylon webbing frog attached to it. See An Illustrated History of Bayonets by Martin Brayley, Page 247 - 248). This is a nice set in a scarce scabbard.
