Create my profile now!Auguste Francotte & Co was a Liege gunmaker. His company was founded in 1810 and was most active between 1860 and 1914. It had premises at Rue Mont Saint Martin 61, in Liege. The Company made weapons based on other manufacturers designs. The Francotte house manufactured a number of rifles shotguns based on the Martini system and supplied them to a number of Countries armed forces. This is a Francotte’s Patent Martini type action obsolete calibre rifle. These small rifles were used as training rifles for Military cadets. It has a block & blade foresight & adjustable, graduated rear sight. The rear of the action is tapped for addition of Vernier target sight. The steel barrel's bore is clean with well defined rifling and it has a crisp martini type action which works as it should. It has all original wood furniture stamped with small indistinct numbers. The metal work is undamaged. It has a steel butt plate, sling swivels and steel cleaning rod. The left side of the action is stamped with Auguste Francotte ‘s ‘AF Patent’ below crown mark and number ‘59930’. The lever on the right side of the action is stamped ‘AF Patent C’. As an antique, obsolete calibre weapon, no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 17307
