Australian L1A2 Bayonet, Scabbard & Frog. Sn 12046 - 12046
This is the Australian version of the British L1A1 and remained the same throughout its life. It has the long press stud. It has the rounded fullers and a polished blade with a parkerised finish to the grips. However most Australian L1A2 bayonets on the market have appeared totally parkerised and with no markings. This would suggest that this is an issued bayonet as it also has "D 019" stamped onto the pommel, (Probably the number of the rifle and bayonet pairing). The scabbard is the standard No 5 MK II and this has a painted number which only has the "3" legible. It also comes with a "M.W. & S 1965 CN 2006" frog. (see Skennerton No A32 pages 291 & 293) A nice addition to a modern or Australian bayonet collection. The price includes Uk delivery. Sn 12046
