C1750 18 Bore Balkan Flintlock Belt / Holster Pistol With Ornate Silver Wire, Enamel / Coral Decoration, Gold Inlaid Maker’s Lozenges & Cudgel Butt. Sn 17206 - 17206

This is an attractive Balkans flintlock pistol made C1750. It is 19 ¼”overall with a 12 ½” steel barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The barrel is unsighted. The barrel has 3 inlaid gold lozenges most likely maker’s marks and the muzzle has an ornate brass barrel band. It has its original tropical hard wood full stock with ornate carved foliate decoration. The wood has a few knocks and bumps to be expected but is toally secure with no cracks. The stock is intricately decorated with silver wire and a row of 3 enamel / coral balls inset in silver mounts on the back of the grip. It has an ornate German silver cudgel butt with long tangs. The trigger guard with stylised finial has remnants of leather liner period laced onto it. The lock plate and hammer have quality tooled decoration and the action works as it should.
