No7 MK I/L (Land Service) Bayonet (Guard's Black Handle), Scabbard And Frog. Sn 9683

The No7 Mk 1/L (Land service) bayonet was designed in 1944. A total of 176,000 were produced. The design was intended for use with the Sten MK V Sub Machine Gun carried by Special Forces and for use as a fighting knife, however, it did continue to see cerommonial service fitted to the No 4 rifle. The blade is a "Bowie" style and measures 8". The grips were generaly red bakelite but as in this example can also be found in black which were issued to Guards Regiments. The swivel pommel and catch work perfectly. The swivel pommel with thumb catch is stamped with a small number '8'. The ricasso of the blade is crisply stamped 'No. 7 MK I/L'. The bayonet is complete with original steel scabbard which is undamaged and has all of it's original finish together with webbing frog. Price for this sought after black handled, No.7 MK I/L Bayonet set includes UK delivery. Sn 9683.
