The MK IV 1887 Pattern Sword Bayonet was approved for military service on 1st June 1891 (see page 163 plate B208 of Skennerton's book British & Commonwealth Bayonets). This example has an 18 1/4" single edged blade with fuller. The blade is undamaged with just small areas of light staining consistent with age. The ricasso is crisply marked with Crown VR (Victoria Regina) and '/87' (1887 designation). The reverse has an Enfield inspection mark 'Crown E 56' and War Dept 'WD' & arrow mark. The back of the blade is stamped with 'Crown E 60' mark. It has the correct cross guard with muzzle ring, steel pommel and push button & flat spring in the handle. The black chequered grips have some service wear but are totally secure with the correct 3 rivet heads either side. The bayonet is complete with original steel mounted leather scabbard. The throat of the upper mount is stamped '11326'. All leather & stitching of the scabbard are intact. Price includes UK delivery. ED 2355
