Description

WW1, 1918 Wilkinson, 1907 Pattern Bayonet Marked 'T 9GOR 377' To The 9th Gordon Highlanders Territorials & Scabbard. Sn 9588

The Scottish Gordon Highlanders raised 21 Battalions in the First World War, serving on the Western Front and in Italy and winning 65 Battle honours. Four Battalions; 8th, 9th 10th and 11th, were formed as part of Lord Kitchener's New Army scheme with 9th Gordons eventually serving as a Pioneer Battalion. The Gordons lost 1,000 officers and 28,000 men during WW1. This is a nice WW1 dated 1907 Pattern bayonet to the 9th Gordon Highlanders and scabbard. It's blade is stamped on the ricasso ' Crown GR (George Regina) 1907 11 18 ( Nov 1918) and with 'Wilkinson' makers name. The reverse is stamped with inspection marks and War Dept arrow. The pommel, crossguard and slab wood grips are undamaged and secure. One grip has a crisp impressed inspection mark. The pommel is crisply marked ' 'T 9GOR' to the 9th Gordon's Territorials & weapon number '377' .The bayonet is complete with original leather scabbard with steel locket and chape. All leather and stitching are undamaged and intact. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 9588
