Pistol / Hand GunsMuzzleloaderUsed£ 495
Sea Service Pistol. The pistol is fully stocked in walnut with an oval sectioned butt, with a flat brass butt plate to which is fitted a lanyard ring. There is a plain brass trigger guard. A brass cap covers the tip of the fore-end and is secured by an iron rivet. The lock is a sidelock flintlock. The barrel is of iron, circular section and smoothbore. The calibre is 0.65in. The lockplate is inscribed with an anchor with ‘D’ to the left and ‘C’ or ‘G’ to the right. The rough but serviceable appearance of this pistol indicates that it was almost certainly a service weapon. The flat butt cap and brass fore-end indicate a French influence. It was presumably sea service because of the anchor on lockplate. Likely to have been made in Liege.
~ Condition ~
A nice looking flintlock but with the upper jaw of the flint holder missing and will not hold in the cocked or half cocked position. The barrel and mechanism is uniformly pitted and the stock has endured various knocks throughout its 200 year life which adds to the attractive overall patina, with specific evidence of historic damage to the non lock side of the stock. Please see the pictures as they form part of our condition report.
~ Postage ~
UK postage is £18, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
