MATCHING NUMBERS, 1905-1908 Britannia .177 Calibre, Sure Shot, Break Action, Air Rifle. Sn 17257. - 17257
The first patent for the Britannia style Break Action Air Rifle was dated 1902 and they were produced between 1905 -1908 (see page 12 & 13 of a Collector's Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). The break action is achieved by a thumb operated, gate type, barrel latch which when pulled backwards releases the barrel and allows the weapon to be cocked and loaded. This example in the white has all original wood & metalwork throughout. It has a 20 ½” stepped rifled barrel with rifled bore which has just staining consistent with age. It measures 35 ½” overall. It has a blade foresight & flip up leaf rear sights. There are no visible manufacturer marks on this rifle. The steel stock frame and barrel section are stamped with matching numbers '462'. The break action loading and firing action work as they should with a good spring action. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 17257
