This an excellent brass barrelled flintlock musketoon. These weapons were used by sailors when boarding ships during attacks or repelling enemy crews attacking their vessels. It is 35 ¾” overall with a large bell mouth 19 ½” long brass cannon barrel. The mouth of the barrel measures 36mm (approx. 1.5 bore). The barrel has crisp British black powder proofs. The bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. It has a plain steel service flintlock. Its heavy military Swan neck hammer is fitted with flint. It has its original, undamaged Walnut stock with brass mounts including butt plate, ram rod flutes, trigger guard with extended tang and side plate. The butt plate tang and side plate have nice period engraved martial banners and arms. It has its original steel ram rod. The weapon’s cocking and firing actions work as they should.
