This is an original 1887 dated .577x .450 Martini Henry, Service Rifle. It has its original, cleaning rod, bayonet lug, steel butt plate and woodwork throughout. It has the correct ladder rear sight and block and blade fore sight. The steel barrel is clean, the rifling sharp and well defined. The top of the breech and barrel have crisp markings including an unusual Zulu Shield With Crossed Knobkerry War Club & Assegai Stabbing Spear Trade Mark and retailer mark ‘Schofield London & Birmingham’. The weapon has a British WD ordnance stamp on the butt plate tang. All wood furniture and metal is undamaged. The wood stock is stamped with Ink roundel ‘1877 London’. The action works correctly and is fully functional. It is stamped on the right side of the action with Crown VR (Victoria Regina) and dated '1887'. It is also stamped with the manufacturers' detail ' Enfield' together with ‘I.C.1’designation. As an Antique, obsolete calibre weapon, no Licence is required to possess this item in the UK if retained as part of a collection or display. Price includes UK delivery. Sn 10666
