DeactivatedCannonsUsed£ 10,500 ONO
This is a fantastic opportunity to own a real piece of British Naval History!
This is a Frederick Armstrong 24 pounder Cast Iron Cannon also known at the time as a "Long Tom" it is 9ft 6 in length and weighs 2.5 tons without the chocks, it originates from 1760s onwards, so potentially may have seen naval action during the American War of independence and the Peninsular & Napoleonic Wars.
After the Napoleonic wars and the upgrade of exploding barrage these cannons gradually became obsolete and were confined to Fortification and garrison use.
This particular example is slightly corroded but very presentable. It has numerous markings, what believes to be a date in italics and the base of the Cannon, it then has the Georgian Cypher above the trunnions which is very visible. It has been suggested that this originated from Portsmouth docks where most of the guns which had been removed from the HMS Foudroyant had been stationed after its purchase in the 1890s. The Foudroyant had 32 of these types of Guns on it, probably worth researching more!
It is available to come and view, please call or message me if interested.
It comes with two concrete display chocks which also weigh a lot, can be delivered anywhere in the UK via a hiab truck at cost.
Also open to px and trade for other interesting arms & armour.
