    WILKINSON SWORD RAF OFFICERS SWORD

1)1920 Patt. Wilkinson ERII British Royal Air Force Officer's Sword

In good condition, a scarce British Royal Air Force officer's sword by Wilkinson
this British Royal Air Force officer's sword, serial number 115864
The 32 1/2 inch blade is in good condition, a few tiny rust specks here and there, plus firm in the hilt. The golden hilt is in good order except for some wear to just above the main crown.
The fishskin grip is in good condition, a little less than spotless as should be expected for a used sword. The twisted grip wire bindings are good. It sheathes well into its gilt mounted leather scabbard, the fittings a little aged and the bottom mount has a small dent (see photo)
There is a small kink in the slightly aged leather.
As an ERII sword I will be asked if the sword is in good enough condition to wear by a serving RAF officer. My answer would be "Only just, but the wearer will be one of the few with a Wilkinson sword and also with some history".
These swords are scarce, they rarely come onto the market and when they do, they often go for just under two thousand pounds, so my price is very good indeed. £725

    2) Wilkinson ERII British Royal Navy Officer's Sword
In fair condition (study photos). £695

The 24 carat Gold plated hilt has queens crowned fouled anchor, rayskin bound grip with gold wire binding and the pommel is in the form of a lions head. Hilt features a hinged clasp that locks on to the top mount of the scabbard

The scabbard is of 3 part construction with wood leather and 24 carat gold plated brass mounts and rings for attaching to a officers belt.

This current pattern was implemented in 1929 and is light, single-edged and straight. Possessed mainly by RN Commissioned Officers, It is distinguished by a gold-plated brass hilt, a surreal white fish-skin grip and a brass pommel created in the form of a lion. The Royal Navy 1929P is renowned for a unique mechanism that has often proved to be a life-saver during difficult times. Adding more exclusivity is the inner side of the guard which is hinged so that it can be folded down to connect with a pin on the scabbard top mount. The scabbard has been immaculately manufactured using rawhide with gold-plated brass mounts

These usually sell for over £1000
