This is a scarce bayonet made by the Solingin trade and purchased by various Colonial Governments. The bayonet is based on the pattern 1875 sword bayonet but has a heavier crossguard and a larger muzzle ring diameter. These bayonets were not necessarily intended for the Martini Henry rifle which explains the different muzzle ring diameter of many of these volunteer patterns. See Skinnerton Item B190 pages 147 – 149. The muzzle ring diameter is 20.2mm . The blade length is 18.5 inches with an overall length of 24.1 inches. The bayonet is in good condition apart from slight damage to one of the leather grip plates. The price includes U.K. delivery. BAYO 328
