**RESERVED**RESERVED**15/10** EXTREMELY RARE, WW1 British WD BSA M1914 .303 Calibre Lewis Automatic Machine Gun With Original Drum Pan Magazine & MK III Nottingham Made Mount Field Bipod. Sn 16793 - 16793

This Firearm is deactivated to one of the pre- 2nd May 2017, UK specifications. As such it can only be sold and exported in its present state to customers in NON- EU countries including the Isle of Man and Channel Islands. Customers based in the UK & other EU countries can purchase on our lay-away scheme. The weapon will then be brought up to the EU specification and the relevant certificate obtained prior to the transfer of ownership and delivery. The .303 calibre Lewis gun (or Lewis automatic machine gun) is a World War I period light machine gun that was widely used by the British Military. It was first used in combat in World War I, and continued in service with a number of armed forces through to the end of the Korean War. This is an extremely rare, excellent clean WW1 .303 Lewis Light Machine Gun. The weapon was manufactured by Birmingham Small Arms Co for Arms Automatiques Lewis Belgium and is crisply stamped accordingly (illustrated). It is also marked 'Lewis Auto Gun 1914 pat' together with number 'A3755'.The gun also has other numbers & WD ordnance inspection marks (all illustrated). It is complete with original bipod with adjustable spiked legs. The bipod is marked ‘Lewis Gun MK III Mount Field’ together with partially readable manufacturer detail ‘****Co Ltd Makers Nottingham’, ladder rear sight, winged fore sight and removable drum pan magazine. The underside of the magazine has WD marks & ‘.303 MK VI & VII. The wood stock and pistol grip is undamaged. It has a steel butt plate & Wd marked brass screw top trap the lid of which has an integral cleaning brush. The lid is ‘WD arrow’ and manufacturer marked ‘P&P’. Deactivated to old UK specification in 1994 the weapon cocks and dry fires perfectly in its present condition (Note when subject to latest UK/EU specification the weapon will not cock & dry fire). These impressive weapons are extremely rare and this is a fine original example worthy of a museum or serious collectors display. The price includes UK delivery and deactivation certificate. Sn 16793
