Fully restored BSA Mercury MK111.
Bought during lockdown as a nostalgic project as this was the first air rifle I owned way back in 1981 and unfortunately “borrowed it out and never got it back...”
The gun itself is stamped ZC4494 confirming it’s a MK111 - the best and last of these classic rifles, it was manufactured In Birmingham at the BSA factory sometime between 1978 - 1985.
When I acquired the gun it was horrible! Some one had painted (badly) the whole gun black and the piston was seized in the cylinder due to it being unused for over 25 years.
The gun was fully stripped, piston was removed, a new steel export piston head and seal where fitted, the bore was gently honed, all edges and surfaces where debured and polished as was the piston.
A new BSA spring was fitted and high quality shims where fitted at both ends of the spring. A new longer stainless steel spring guide from TR Robb air gun specialist was fitted alongside a new heavy duty breech seal again from TR Robb.
The metal work was re blued and stock stripped back to wood and finished with walnut oil.
It’s fitted with a quality 3 x 9 x 40 scope with Nikko Stirling mounts.
It’s currently shooting at 11.2 ft lbs and is achieving half inch groupings at 30 yards.
A great rifle. Only selling as I’ve bought a TX200 and don’t have space in my cabinet. ...Read full description
