Late WW2 Burma Japanese Army / Native Armourer Field Made Campaign Sword With Leather Combat Covered Wood Hilt & Scabbard. Sn 17689 - 17689
This is a late war Theatre made Japanese sword. The sword has been examined by UK Japanese sword expert Bill Tagg and his hand written label accompanies the sword. In his notes on the label he states ’Made on Campaign sword late war. Made in jaoanese occupied countries i.e. Burma / Philippines / Malay by Japanese armourers or native sword makers / blacksmiths. Also carried by Officer’s (local natives) in Militia Units fighting with the Japanese (the Japanese army would not give them swords from Japan). The cutting edge of the blade is 28” (38” overall length). The blade has staining consistent with age. The wood hilt is leather covered with stitched seam and has a brass ring at the pommel. The hilt has a brass guard numbered ‘5’. The wood scabbard has its leather combat cover. The scabbard has shrunk over time and is a very tight fit. The scabbard has a single hanging ring and leather shoe. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 17689
