1914 WW1 Matron Margaret Graham of the Royal British Nurses Association, South Australia Branch, Pair Of 6 X German Made Binoculars In A Leather Case By Busch Lynkop. Opt 830 - Opt 830

An Original WW1 Pair Of 6 X German Made Binoculars In A Leather Case By Busch Lynkop, named to Matron Margaret Graham of the Royal British Nurses Association, South Australia Branch making them a very researchable item. In 1891 Margaret Graham was appointed as a probationer nurse at the Adelaide Hospital, completing her training in 1894. In 1898 she was appointed Matron of the Adelaide Hospital, a position she held for 22 years. As a member of the Australian Army Nursing Reserve in SA she was granted leave from the Adelaide Hospital to join the nursing contingent which accompanied the Australian Imperial Force to Egypt, in October 1914. She served for four years in hospitals in Egypt, on hospitals ships, and in Britain. She was mentioned in dispatches in 1916, and in 1917 received the international award of the Royal Red Cross. In 1921 Miss Graham returned to her former home in the north of England. She died at Carlisle on 4 July 1942 at the age of 82. The binoculars are in excellent condition. They retain the leather neck strap. They are name stamped to "M. Graham" on one shoulder and on the other "from RBNA South Australia 28/9/14". The eyepiece shoulders are stamped with the Busch Trade Mark and "Busch No 92267 and on the other side with the Busch Trade Mark and "Lynkop". The bodies are covered in grained leather. They open out and close and the focus wheel operates as it should. The eye pieces retain the rubber cups. The optics are in good condition but would benefit from a clean. The leather case is in good condition and has the elasticated catch on the front to secure the top flap lid. The lid is also stamped with 'M Graham' and it still has the carry handle. They are complete with a leather shoulder strap and leather belt loops to the rear. This pair of binoculars are a very researchable item and have the two references , one to 'M Graham' on the binoculars and the leather case and the other to 'RBNA South Australia' making them a very researchable item in original condition. The price includes UK delivery. Opt 830
