1905-1908 Britannia Cox’s Patent C.G. Bonehill Sole Manufacturer .177 Calibre, Mark 1 Break Action, Air Rifle. Sn 15863 - 15863
Mark 1 Britannia Break Action Air Rifle were produced between 1905 -1908 (see pages 12 & 13 of a Collector's Guide To Air Rifles By Hiller). The break action is achieved by a thumb operated, gate type, barrel latch which when pulled backwards releases the barrel and allows the weapon to be cocked and loaded. This is a good example of the Britannia MK 1 with original wood & metalwork throughout all of which has even patina. It has a 20 ½” clean stepped rifled barrel and measures 35 ½” overall. The top of the frame is correctly stamped 'Cox's Patent' together with ‘C.G Bonehill Sole Manufacturer’. The left side is stamped with the Britannia name and 'Trade mark'. The steel stock frame and barrel section are stamped with matching numbers '1533'. The frame has patent detail ‘RD 394207’. It has a blade fore sight and adjustable rear sight. The break action loading and firing action work as they should with a good spring action. Price includes UK delivery. Sn 15863.
