~ c1800s British Light Cavalry Officer`s Sabre By J J Runkel Solingen ~
A Napoleonic Wars era British light cavalry officer`s sabre with the much worn blue and gilt etching.
The forward cutting edge with period tell-tale nicks (which are virtually impossible to fake) that indicate the sabre saw very active service.
The blade back has been stamped with the “J J Runekel Solingen” manufacturer stamp.
The scabbard is of leather construction. A brass fitting is found at the throat and the plaque is stamped “KING, 37” which indicate that this sabre was in service.
~ Dimensions ~
The blade has a length of 29 ¼ Inches (74.5 cm). The sabre has a full length of 34 inches (86 cm), 34 inches (86 cm) when placed in its scabbard.
~ Condition ~
There is general wear to the leather and most of the brass work, including a few scratches and much loss of bluing.
The blade is fairly scratches with some surface pitting and rust but it presents well for its age.
The scabbard is in fair condition with wear to the tip.
