SUPERB, 1861-1874 English Brass .32 Rim Fire 6 Shot Brass Pocket Revolver With Octagonal Barrel By Charles Edward Hurst, Horsham, Surrey. Sn 12697 - 12697

Charles Edward Hurst was an English Gunsmith with premises at West Street, Horsham, Sussex between 1861 & 1874 (see page 257 of British Gunmakers Volume 2 by Brown). This is an excellent original brass .32 Rim Fire 6 shot revolver made by Hurst. It has a 2 ¾” octagonal barrel with small conical post fore sight. It measures 7” overall length. The top of the frame has the manufacturer’s name ‘C.E. Hurst Horsham’. The revolver has a sheathed steel trigger and Steel hammer. The pistol's single action firing mechanism works perfectly. The steel cylinder is removed for speed loading with a preloaded cylinder by turning a small steel screw on the underside of its frame and removing its retaining rod which doubles as a clearing rod. The brass frame has beautiful scroll foliate engraved decoration on both sides and on the grip frame. The barrel and cylinder have small inspection / proof marks. The original chequered walnut grips are undamaged with just a light scuff to the bottom edge of the left grip. The price for this quality pistol includes UK delivery. NB As an obsolete calibre rim fire revolver no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 12697
