Here we have a beautiful and top quality child’s shotgun manufactured by the still active gun makers Watson Bros who have been producing firearms since 1875. The company was started by the son in law of William Tranter and was based on the same premises as the renowned gunsmith Durs Egg in London.
They specialised in manufacturing luxury sporting firearms for children and ladies who wanted to engage in a traditionally male sport and at the time they tried to corner the market as specialists.
This miniature sporting percussion shotgun is reputed to have been manufactured for the son of the Earl of Bath ( we will be researching and updating this listing as and when we can) and this will be quite easy to find out with the company still operating and holding all of its records with matching serial numbers.
The shotgun is a small bore gun, for all intents and purposes a scaled down gun that will take a smaller charge but made with the same intricate details, the arabesque designs and the knurling on the wood.
