~ Circa 1750 Cased Pair Of Pocket Pistols ~
Here we have a wonderful set of pocket pistols made by T Richards, proofed in London.
There isn’t much information about T. Richards aside from that he was making firearms from the mid 18th century and onwards into the early 19th century.
These pistols are of the screw barrel design, where the barrel screws off and the ball is held in place with the friction from the barrel, allowing for concealment and preloading.
These two pistols are made from engraved steel, the grip is a dark hardwood.
The side of the firearms is engraved with ‘T. Richards’, the underside of the barrel is stamped with the makers mark’T.R.’ and the Crowned V and Crowned P inspection and proof marks of London.
One of the pistols only cocks to half cock and the other has a very strong spring and will cock fully.
