~ A Fine Pair of Bond of London Turn off Flintlock Pistols Circa 1780 ~
The pair have dark walnut, plain sackbutt grips and fold away triggers which deploy on full cock.
Both pistols are marked Bond and London to the lockplates within an engraved cartouche displaying a military drum.
The pair have twist off barrels with muzzle engraving and each is finished with a silver oval blank. They are fitted with a safety catch which will lock the hammer when fully cocked.
To the underside of each barrel are two large proof marks.
They retain the majority of their original bluing.
They are significantly above the regular quality.
~ Dimensions ~
Each pistol measures 7 inches (18cm) long with the barrel measuring 2 inches (5cm). Each pistol weighs 385g.
~ Condition ~
The pair are in good antique condition with their original blued finish. The wooden grips are overall fine with some minor chips to the edges. The metalwork is clean with minimal pitting. The mechanisms are in good order with both guns half cocking, cocking and releasing. The triggers release as part of the movement and fold away neatly. Both barrels unscrew with ease. The safety catches are in good order.
