Description

~ Circa 1810 British Naval Dirk With Blue And Gilt ~

Here we have a British Naval dirk from the early 19th century complete with its scabbard and belt.

This is a very nice example of an early standard dirk produced at the height of Britains Naval power.

This dirk has been made with a small ivory grip, brass cross guard and fittings along with a steel blade that has the remnants of its original blue and gilt finish.

The sheath and belt are of good quality leather with brass fittings stylised as lions.

The brass throat of the sheath has ‘Watts’ ‘Portsmouth’ placed using stippling making this a piece from a local military outfitters.

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 16 inches (40 cm) long.

The dirk is 21 inches (53 cm) long.

The set weigh 330g.

~ Condition ~

The dirk is in a good condition for its age.

The ivory grip has two cracks but is still firmly in place.

The steel is in good condition with remains of the blue and gilt on about a third of the blade.

The leather work is in brilliant condition even retaining all of its stitching.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £20, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
