Description

~ Circa 1870 Truncheon And Shotgun Combination Weapon ~

Here we have a fascinating combination weapon, a steel or iron truncheon that is formed of what is essentially a shotgun barrel on a wooden pommel with a small trigger mechanism fitted to one side.

This is the only weapon of its kind that we have ever had and it appears to be very rare or even a unique firearm.

The proof marks appear to be from Birmingham and dated to after 1868 but the proof marks have faded somewhat.

The barrel has been painted the same black as the wooden pommel.

I would assume that this firearm was manufactured for some form of policing, guard or night watchman use or just as a novelty.

~ Dimensions ~

The barrel is 9.25 inches (23.5cm) long.

The baton is 17.75 inches (45 cm) long.

The flared barrel is 1.25 inches (3.15cm) wide at the muzzle.

~ Condition ~

The piece is in good condition for its age with a fully functioning mechanism.

The paint has chipped along the barrel in some places but the overall finish has been retained.

The proof marks are visible but have faded.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £20, international at cost and it can be viewed in our shop.
