~ Circa 1880 Bavarian Infantry Sword ~

This is a good example of a surviving Bavarian sword used most probably up to the first world war.

The piece comes in its metal scabbard.

The black grip is made of wood and the steel guard can be fitted with a knot through an opening in its lower part.

The blade is decorated with identical etchings on both sides revealing the Bavarian shield and lion under the motto "In Treue Fest."

~ Dimensions ~

The blade is 32 inches (81,28 cm) long and the overall length of the sword in its scabbard is 39.37 inches (100 cm).

~ Condition ~

The sword remains in good condition.

The metalwork aged and developed a nice patina. The is minimal pitting, as expected for its age.

The blade is clean and undamaged.

The grip has some chips.

~ Postage ~

Postage costs £18 or it can be collected from our shop in Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
