1875 - 1912 American Colt No.3 .41 Rim Fire Obsolete Calibre Nickel Plated Brass Frame Single Shot Derringer With Pivot Barrel. Sn 15769 - 15769
An original .41 Cal Rim Fire, Colt No.3 derringer. The No.3 Colt derringer, also known as the Thuer model after a patented design by F. Alexander Theur, was the most popular of the three Colt derringer models. Production ran from 1875 through until 1912. The serial numbers are often stamped beneath the grips, and are not visible unless the grips are removed (we have not removed the grips). Our example has a nickel plated brass frame with a sheathed trigger. The nickel plating is worn in areas which is to be expected of a weapon of this age. Its 2 ½” barrel pivots to the right for loading (the hammer must be at half cock to pivot the barrel). The barrel pivots as it should and is tight. It’s bore has just staining to be expected, the rifling is crisp. The top of the barrel is signed by the manufacturer ‘Colt’. It has its original American walnut grips which are in very good condition and secured with a single recessed brass screw bolt. It is stamped on the left side of the frame with calibre detail "41 Cal". Its loading and firing actions work perfectly. The price includes UK delivery. The price includes UK delivery. NB as an obsolete calibre rim fire derringer no licence is required to own this item in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. Sn 15769
