These instruments were used in the inter World War years and WW2 to direct the fire of Artillery Batteries & Machine Gun emplacements. This variant would be mounted to a flat surface such as a table top and used to calculate range & direction of fire. Our example is cased, WD, manufacturer and date marked as per the images. The optics would benefit from a clean. The brass casing of the sight and stand retain their original green paint and graduated dials. The leather fitted case is clean and intact. The lid is stamped with manufacturer detail and Director’s MK 1 designation together with 1940 date and WD arrow as per the images .
