DEACTIVATED INERT. This is an unfired French 1981 dated 60mm Illumination mortor for the French Built Panhard AML-60 Reconnaissance Armoured Car that was built from 1960 until 1987. The armoured car was adopted by the French an it was also exported. The armoured car had a 4x4 drive chassis and a large turret that contained a 60mm breech loading unrifled mortor. The mortor retains most of its original green painted finish with a white band near the nose. The mortor is also stencilled in white 60 – HB – 63 4 – BT – 81 (1981 date). The alloy fin assembly is stamped 5 MCE 80 round its circumference and carries graduations for setting the time the illumination mortor functions.
