STEN MK5 woodwork and metalwork are in excellent condition, with much finish. It is crisply stamped ’STEN Mk 5’ which would indicate manufacture around late 1944, with serial number ’SV196255’ stamped on the underside of the magazine housing and with matching numbered stock. On top of the magazine housing is M/78 which is the maker code for Elkington & Co. Stamped with broad arrows on almost every part. Fitted is the early type brass butt plate with trap for cleaning kit. The stock is stamped M47A for BSA ltd. The sling hoop is on top of the stock, suggesting use by paratroopers or commandos. This STEN comes with cleaning kit foregrip and deactivation cert.Mag housing rotates fuly, bolt moves under spring tension. And mag ejects.

This example was made by Elkington and co (M-78) the least common of the 4 manufacturers. The pommel and cross guard show 80% original finish. The dark red composite grips show light overall wear and tear and are stamped 'england'. The blade is nice with no pitting or damage. The steel scabbard is dent free and retains 95% original finish. Complete with 1955 dated frog.
