~ Early 19th Century Cavalrymans Colonial Flintlock ~

Here we have a nice piece, a European pattern pistol that appears to have been made to a lower standard that one’s made in European arsenals, it also has a wire sling towards the end of the barrel, most probably so the pistol can hang from a belt or saddle. This leads me to believe that this heavy bore pistol was a cavalryman’s in colonial Asia.

The lock was most probably manufactured in Europe and sold as a trade part then constructed on site.

This is a very sturdy piece, made with use in mind. Not one of the most ornate pieces but most likely a troopers pistol and possibly made by a cottage gunsmith rather than a professional gunsmith.

A wonderful collectors piece for any antique firearms collection or for restoration.

    ~ Dimensions ~

The pistol is 16 inches (41 cm) long.

The barrel is 9 inches (23 cm) long.

    The pistol weighs 1.16 Kg.

    ~ Condition ~

The pistol is in an as found condition.

There is some cosmetic damage to the wooden furniture.

There appears to be a repaired crack in the pistol grip.

The firing mechanism is still in a good working condition.

The pistol is missing its ramrod.

The metalwork has blackened and is evenly pitted.

    ~ Postage ~

UK postage is £18 or it can inspected in our shop.
