This is an excellent, original Eickhorn, Solingen, Imperial German Artillery Train Battery Officer's dress sword. The sword has nickel plated knuckle bow with pierced bowl guard. It has an undamaged wire bound polished horn grip. The inside of the guard has remnants of an original leather hanger loop attached. The sword measures 36 ¾” overall and the ricasso of its 31” single edged, curved blade with fullers is stamped with Eickhorn back to back squirrelsabove O.E. (Original Eickhorn) trademark. The polished blade has its original leather hilt washer & has deeply engraved panels on both sides and the spine featuring Imperial Eagles, Martial banners and arms including Cannon all amongst foliate decoration. One panel features an artillery baggage / ammunition carriage pulled by a train of horses with mounted soldiers. Another panel is marked to ‘Wurtt Train Bat No.13’ (Wurttemberg Train Battery or Battalion Number 13). The sword is complete with its original black painted steel scabbard with hanging ring.
