1796 British Officers Sword with scabbard in good condition. Signed on the blade spine J.J. Runkel, Solingen. Runkel was the main supplier to the military of these Officers sword at the turn of the century. The blades were imported by him and the completed swords were retailed from his premises in Chancery Lane, Holborn, London from 1795 - 1808. Sword is tight and together, the folding guard works as it should, the wire bound grip is good with no damage. Blade has an even grey patina with faint signs of engraving. The undamaged steel scabbard has a matt black finish . £225+PP ono.
