Springfield muzzle loading percussion rifles were used by the United States Army and Marine Corps during the American Civil War. Commonly referred to as the "Springfield" (after its original place of production, Springfield, Massachusetts), they were the most widely used U.S. Army weapon during the Civil War, favoured for their range, accuracy, and reliability. The rifles were also used during the American Indian Wars. The Springfield lives on today in quality firearms produced by the Italian company 'Euroarms Of America' This is an excellent Euroarms made US Army Springfield type percussion rifle. It has an undamaged wood stock and excellent blue finish to the metal work. It has a 32 ½” barrel. The weapon is fitted with military bayonet bar, sling swivels, blade fore sight, graduated flip up 3 leaf rear sight, heavy colour case hardened hammer and action & brass furniture including a hinged patch box in the shoulder stock which contains a small number of cloth patches. The action plate is crisply marked with the American Eagle device found on Springfield rifles and ‘U.S.’ (Army). The weapon has manufacturer inspection marks and the barrel is stamped 'Euroarms Of America' together with ‘Cal.58’ calibre and number 30846. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2020 the weapon’s trigger & hammer move. The price includes UK/EU deactivation certificate and UK delivery. D 1471
