An original German WW1 Fighting/Trench Knife, scabbard and frog. Examples of this type of knife bayonet are illustrated on pages 40 & 41 of Christian Mery’s book ‘German Combat Knives 1914-1945’. The knife has a 5 ½” dagger blade with medial ridge. The blade has just staining consistent with age. It is 10" overall length. The blade is fitted with original leather hilt washer. The blackened steel cross guard has a swept quillon. The grips are wood with typical nine diagonally carved grooves. The grips are secured with 2 rivets. There are no manufacturer or date marks on this knife. It is complete with its original metal scabbard painted black which has a leather belt loop riveted to it. The scabbard retains much of its original paint. The belt loop has a single leather retaining strap with press stud fastener. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2403
