Historically, carabiniers were generally (but not always) horse soldiers. Carabiniers differed from army to army and over time, but typically were medium cavalry, similar in armament and tactical role to Dragoons. Napoleon deployed Carabiniers during the Battle of Waterloo. This is a superb, original French 3rd Caribinier’s Regiment Officer’s Helmet. The helmet has a brass skull, brass rim, ear to ear brass band with white metal trim and ignited grenade to the centre. It has a superb ornate Oak leaf and Vines decorated head finial with traces of original gilt finish, brass neck guard and original red horse hair combe plume. The exterior of the helmet has just a couple of very small dents only visible on close inspection. The helmet is complete with leather liner which has just the service wear to be expected. It is approx UK size 6 1/2. The price for this original, outstanding Napoleonic era helmet includes UK delivery. Sn 15166
