Description
~ French Imperial Guard Circa 1806 Basket Hilted Sword ~
The sword is a pre-regulation pattern piece and dates to around 1806 to 1809.
Both sides of the single edged blade have a double full length fuller.
There is a makers mark indistinctly signed to the inside of the flap.
The heavy brass guard has 7 bars, an inner red leather liner and wired black leather grip.
~ Condition ~
There is a soldered repair to one of the bars, minor loss to the grip and the leather is worn with age, otherwise fine.
~ Dimensions ~
The sword is 112 cm (42 inches) in length with a 96 cm (36.75 inches) blade.
