German WW1 Model 1898/05 G98 Mauser 'Butcher Knife' bayonet by FRISTER & ROSSMAN. This is the second version and the ricasso is stamped ACT.GES.VORM. FRISTER & ROSSMAN. BERLIN. Frister and Rossman is a scarce maker and appears to only have manufactured bayonets in 1917 as this is the only date they have been recorded. Most bayonets however were un-dated and this is one of these. According to Anthony Carter, Frister and Rossman were involved with J.A.Hinckels and it appears that rather than producing their own blades, they were finishing Henckels blades. See Anthony Carter, German Bayonets, the models 98/02 and 98/05 page 73. This bayonet is a later model with a trimmed muzzle ring and is fitted with a flash guard. The hilt is stamped with a crown. The steel scabbard is original and is fitted with a frog stud. The price includes UK delivery. Sn. 14931:4
