Here we have a fascinating piece of Royal Naval history, the full dress uniform and sword of an officer who served in both World Wars and distinguished himself in the Naval War in North Africa in 1943 and in the Italian Campaign in 1944. Boutwood was eventually made a Captain and was awarded a DSO and mentioned in dispatches.

The set consists of his entire Navy Dress uniform, jacket, waistcoat, trousers, cape (with shoulder boards) and his named sword.

Boutwood served from 1917 on the HMS Inflexible and ending his career as the Aide de Camp To King George.

The uniform is top quality just like the sword, made by Gieves and Wilkinson respectively.

Overall a wonderful set and a rare piece, also quite nicely this is a complete and ready display set that would be the crown of any military collectors display.

~ Dimensions ~

The cape is 35 inches long from collar to hem (89 cm).

The jacket is 29 inches long from collar to hem (74 cm),

It is 23.5 inches from armpit to armpit (60 cm),

It measures 23.5 inches along the outside of the sleeve from shoulder to cuff (60c m),

With the garment flattened, the jacket is 20 inches across its waist (51 cm)

The waistcoat is 20 inches in length doen the back (51 cm),

It measures 19 inches from armpit to armpit (48.5 cm).

The trousers are 43 inches long along their outside seam (109.5 cm),

They’re 30 inches on the inner leg (76.5 cm).

They have a 34 inch waist (86.5 cm).

The belt is 36 inches in length (91.5 cm).

~ Condition ~

Aside from one or two moth holes on the cape, the uniform is in great condition (aside from some marks generated by the officer wearing the uniform i.e. some slight staining to the lining - pictured)
