Create my profile now! This is a very late production Saw back 598/05 bayonet made in 1917 by Weyersberg Kirsch Baum & Co. 1917 saw the final production of the Saw backed 598/05. After much deliberation by the German authorities and due in part to the claim by the allies the saw backed ‘Butcher’ bayonets were barbarous. The blade is marked to the Ricasso with Kirsch Baum & CIE Solingen and the spine carries a crown over W & 17. Blade length 13 ½ “, total length 20 ½ “. The grips are wood and the pommel carries two feint imperial inspection stamps. The scabbard is steel and is marked to the top with Waffenfabrik Mauser AG Oberndorff. It is contained in its standard German black leather frog. Avery nice late wartime Saw back 598/05. £425. BAYO 681.
