A rare ‘Speedy’ Air Rifle manufactured in Germany circa 1900 – 1930’s imported and retailed by G C Bell & Sons, Thistle Street, Glasgow.
This was also known as the ‘Hercules’ in Germany and retailed there circa 1909.
The rifles price in 1927 was 12/6d !
It’s small break barrel rifle 31 1/2″ long with a 10 3/4″ smooth bore .177 Calibre barrel. The barrel has a brass liner and the outer tube is also made of brass which originally would have been nickel plated.
The serial number is stamped on the breech face and on the opposite transfer port this particular rifle’s serial number being 7319.
This is similar to a gem type of rifle however the air chamber is a separate tube clamped into place by the two halves of the outer parts of the air chamber.
The rifle is cocked by lifting he barrel latch and cocking in the conventional manner.
This particular rifle would of originally have been nickel plated this has worn off over time although its still showing traces in areas.
The wooden stock is complete and good condition there is a metal butt plate affixed.
The rifle cocks and fires with no issues.
A good example of a rare collectable air rifle.
